About this speaker

Monika is a quilt pattern designer and teacher based near Ottawa, Canada. With a background as a high school geography teacher, Monika brings her love for teaching into the quilting world. Her bold, fuss-free quilt patterns are designed to inspire confidence in both new and experienced quilters, breaking down the process one step at a time. Monika's goal is to share the joy of quilting with others, whether through in-person classes or online workshops for guilds and summits.

Monika’s journey into quilting began with a wonderful beginners class while at university, and evolved largely self-taught. Over the years, she has designed over 50 quilt patterns, many of which have been featured in well-known quilting magazines and books. Her designs are a reflection of her belief that quilting should be accessible, enjoyable, and a source of creative confidence.

Originally from Switzerland, Monika now lives in rural Ontario with her family and a small menagerie of animals. When she’s not teaching, quilting, or designing, she can usually be found puttering around her garden or tucked in a comfy chair with a good book and a cup of tea.
